Why Aico?
Quality
When lives rely on them, you cannot afford to take risks with your Smoke or Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms. Aico’s commitment to providing the highest quality products and service is second to none.
All Aico alarms are manufactured in the Ei Electronics factory in Shannon, Ireland – which has produced over 100 million alarms since the company was founded over 50 years ago.
Manufacturing Quality
During the manufacturing process, every single alarm is tested at multiple points to ensure consistent high quality across all products. These points include:
Initial Assembly
The individual components of the alarms are tested to ensure they meet strict tolerances
Test and Calibration
As part of the assembly process, alarms are tested and calibrated in smoke, heat or CO to ensure they meet the relevant British/European standards. This means that they will respond quickly to whatever they are designed to detect
Final Test
Once the alarm is fully assembled, it is again put through a thorough test. It is a final verification that the alarm is fully functional before being shipped from the factory
Approvals
In addition to the high level of testing during the manufacturing process, every alarm is third party accredited to the relevant British or European standard to confirm the quality – look for the Kitemark shown on the alarms to demonstrate that the alarm has been accredited by BSI (British Standards Institute) or VdS mark to show it has been accredited by VdS (European Standard)
Fitting an optional Alarm Control Switch
An alarm control switch is used to control all the alarms in a system from one place. We highly recommend fitting a control switch if you have smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms on the same system as it’s essential that you can tell which alarm has sounded. From then you can identify which danger is present and the action you should take.
Control Switch’s increases the flexibility and user friendliness of the alarms by allowing the user to remotely Test, Locate and Silence alarms in the system:
Test – The alarm system
Locate – The alarm that has been activated
Silence– Any nuisance alarms
